Employment

Professional

FELDMAN ORLANSKY & SANDERS will maintain its small firm character, but periodically adds associate attorneys. The firm traditionally has hired individuals who have served either as trial court or appellate court law clerks.  Admission to the Alaska bar is preferred, but not required.  Applicants should submit a letter of inquiry, accompanied by a resume, writing sample, and two professional or academic references.

Internships

The firm strongly supports and uses legal interns in its practice. Students who have completed their second year of law school are preferred, but the firm also hires well-qualified first-year students. Legal interns usually are employed during the traditional summer break. However, the firm also hires interns during other periods if students are enrolled in a program that permits internships during the academic year.

Legal interns are given a broad exposure to trial and appellate practice, with close supervision and support. During the course of an internship, students can expect to participate in trial preparation, strategy and issue development, and research and drafting of motions and appellate briefs. Students also attend court proceedings, hearings, and oral arguments in matters on which they assist firm lawyers. An effort is made to ensure that the internship experience is professionally and personally rewarding. Interns are encouraged to explore the unique recreational and travel opportunities that Alaska affords. Compensation is consistent with that offered by the Anchorage legal community and includes travel expenses to and from Alaska.

Applicants should have strong research and writing skills and an equally strong interest in trial and appellate practice. Interest in a permanent position or relocating to Alaska always is welcomed, but not required. Because of the nature of the firm's practice and experience, an internship is particularly well-suited for individuals intending to pursue judicial clerkship opportunities with the trial or appellate courts in Alaska after graduation. Applicants should submit a letter of inquiry, a resume, an academic transcript, and two academic or professional references. Hiring decisions for the summer usually are made by March and applicants are therefore encouraged to apply early.

Administrative Staff

FELDMAN ORLANSKY & SANDERS has enjoyed long-term stability in its administrative and support staff, and, therefore, only occasionally has opportunities available in those positions. When vacancies occur, the law firm seeks applicants with substantial prior legal experience, strong skills, and exceptional recommendations. Interested applicants should submit a letter of inquiry, a résumé, and two professional references. Compensation is commensurate with experience and responsibility.
