
Scott Taylor has been in private practice since 1991, focusing on trials and appeals. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Taylor served as an Assistant Public Defender for the Alaska Public Defender Agency in Kotzebue (1985-87) and Anchorage (1987-1991), and as law clerk to Chief Judge Alexander O. Bryner of the Alaska Court of Appeals (1984-1985).
As a Leopold Schepp Foundation Scholar, Mr. Taylor received a B.A. (1981) from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and a J.D. (1984) from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts. He is admitted to practice in Alaska and Massachusetts, and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Taylor has held a variety of professional and public service memberships and appointments, including: Chairman (1999-2006) & Member (1992-2007), Alaska Bar Association Law Examiners Committee; Member, Alaska Bar Association Area Discipline Committee (1997-2001); Member, Alaska Supreme Court Civil Rule 90.3 Committee (2002-2003; 2007-2008); Member, Alaska Academy of Trial Lawyers (1991-present); Member, Board of Directors, Alaska Native Justice Center (1998-2006); Member, Board of Directors, Trustees for Alaska (2004-present); Member, Board of Directors, Alaska Civil Liberties Union (1995-2002).
Mr. Taylor was the 2004 recipient of the Alaska Bar Association's Distinguished Service Award.
